Taking a page out of the layered universe that Marvel has created with their theatrical and television properties, Bryan Singer, whose X-Men: Apocalypse isn’t due out until next year, suggested the possibility of seeing both the X-Men and the re-booted Fantastic Four in a crossover since both movie properties are currently owned by 20th Century Fox. However, for now it is merely in the talking stage.
In an interview with Yahoo Movies Singer merely stated, “Those ideas are in play. That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.” Singer then added, “It deals with time. That’s all I’m going to say.”
Fantastic Four is to hit theaters in August, and this reboot will clearly be dealing with an alternate universe from both the two earlier movies as well as the (now cancelled) comic book line, and the success of these two movies will determine if there is any future for either of them, let alone a crossover event.
