Comicbook.com reports that Fifty Shades of Grey screenwriter Kelly Marvel has been tapped by Disney to pen a live action film about the 101 Dalmatiansvillain Cruella de Vil, simply titled Cruella.
According to the report from THR, Disney is fast tracking the project to follow the next entries in its growing live action fairy tale empire, The Jungle Book, Through the Looking Glass, and Beauty and the Beast.
De Vil debuted in the Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians, on which the 1961 Disney animated film was based. Glenn Close played Cruella in the live action 101 Dalmatians movie in 1996, and the 2000 sequel, 102 Dalmatians.
Disney currently has four untitled animation to live action films scheduled. Their dates are Dec. 22, 2017, Nov. 2, 2018, March 29, 2019 and Nov. 18, 2019. Disney currently has live action Dumbo, Tink, Mulan, and a Maleficent sequel in the planning stages, but they have so far refused to match dates to projects.
