In all seriousness, ComingSoon.net is reporting that with the Deadpool hype slowly building by giving us a new trailer which is set to arrive this December, one of the marketing gimmicks that 20th Century Fox has planned is for a chance for fans to sit on Deadpool’s lap in theaters this holiday season.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Reynolds stars as the title character alongside T.J. Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat and Ed Skrein as Ajax. The film will also feature the mutant Colossus, though Daniel Cudmore has confirmed he will not appear as the character. Reynolds has also expressed a desire that Hugh Jackman might cameo as Wolverine, though it remains unconfirmed as to whether or not he will actually appear.
Tim Miller is directing the movie from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Confirmed to be rated R, Deadpool is scheduled for a release on February 12, 2016.
Earlier this year we had the opportunity to chat with Reynolds on the Vancouver set of the film. If you haven’t already had a chance, check out ComingSoon.net’s Deadpool set visit report.
So will you be sitting on Deadpool’s lap this Christmas and telling him everything you want? If so, send us a picture and we’ll post it on our website!
