Despite the apparent “death” of the Titans series when TNT passed on it, appearances are yet again deceiving as it seems we may not have seen the last of the live-action drama based on the DC Comics “Teen Titans.”
DC Entertainment’s CCO, Geoff Johns, spoke to TVLine about how the company was more than simply “aware” of TNT’s decision to pass on Titans for months before it was announced. With DC appearing to be unfazed by this, Johns simply stated:
“We have plans for Titans. It’s a huge piece of DC, and we have plans.”
The earliest reports regarding the Titans drama came to light in the fall of 2014 where it was reported that Akiva Goldsman and Mark Haimes were tapped to write the pilot that would include such well-known DC Titans members Dick Grayson, Starfire, and Raven. The pilot was expected to film last year, but it was later reported that the it was not at all on TNT’s programming schedule, and President Kevin Reilly simply stated that it was a direction they decided that they did not wish to go to.
Who do you think DC will turn to now? Despite the CW’s assertion that they have no desire to become the “DC Channel,” would that network be a better fit for the series given the DC properties they already have? If not the CW, where is a good place for Titans to end up? Should DC actually create their own network?
