Hot on the heels of the upcoming crossover episode that will be bringing Barry Allen from The Flash over to Supergirl, ComicBook.com is reporting that CBS will continue in the DC TV Universe building by bringing in the Guardian, and he will be played by TV sci-fi veteran Eddie McClintock (Warehouse 13, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
Jack Kirby and Joe Simon created the character of James Harper in the comics, and is closely connected to something known as the Cadmus Project, which has been mentioned in Arrow, and Guardian has been somewhat regarded as DC’s answer to Captain America. In the comics Harper is cloned and improved upon given peak human abilities. Once you add the trademark shield you can see the similarities between Guardian and Marvel’s Cap.
The episode McClintock is reported to be in is titled “Manhunter,” and as with past Supergirl episodes there will be a myriad of lesser characters filling out the story. However with someone of McClintock’s stature, not to mention that he’s taking on the role of Guardian, there are some who are hoping that this will be a recurring role for him.
Supergirl airs on Mondays at 7:00 PM on CBS and stars Melissa Benoist, Mehcad Brooks, and Calista Flockhart.

Does Eddie McClintock sound like a good fit for Supergirl? How about his casting as the Guardian? Do you hope that this can open the door and establish a connection between him and James Olson with the Newsboy Legion, much like it is in the DC comics?
