The CW has been busy adding quite a few characters to their DC Universe of TV shows, and Arrow is no exception. Deadline brings word that Chicago P.D. star Josh Segarra is set to play the vigilante known, appropriately enough, as Vigilante.
Created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, Vigilante made his comic book debut in 1983’s “New Teen Titans Annual” #2. Adrian Chase, a New York City District Attorney, was driven to become the masked antihero after his family was killed by crimelords. Although Vigilante initially had plans to use non-lethal force to keep crime in check, Chase’s mental health began to deteriorate over the years and, feeling responsible for the death of a police officer, he began to take on a significantly more violent persona. Arrow fans can certainly see how Adrian Chase and Oliver Queen have more than a little in common.
Arrow also stars David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, John Barrowman as Malcom Merlyn, with Paul Blackthorne as Detective Lance. The series is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter.
In addition to appearing on Arrow, Josh Segarra starred on USA‘s Sirens and recently appeared on the big screen in Judd Apatow’s Trainwreck.
What are your thoughts with this latest casting for Arrow? Do you think the CW is finally beginning to hit a new stride with their universe? What other directions would you like to see this series go, and who would you like to see become part of the cast of characters?
