“Severus Snape and the Marauders” (#SSATM) is a magical short film!

SSatMAs I’m sure all of you are aware, we here at TG2 Studios are big into independent creators. That includes musicians, writers, game designers, and by no means least, filmmakers. One of the areas of independent filmmakers that must get talked about is that of fan films. Now we generally don’t cover much in the way of fan films unless there is something extraordinary that crosses our path that deserves our attention, and that is most definitely the case with Severus Snape and the Marauders.

This is a 25 minute fan film that has all of the production value of a theatrical release. While it has been stated very clearly by J.K. Rowling that she had no desire of writing a story surrounding the Marauders, or of the early days of Snape prior to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the fans have certainly been wanting to see more from this magical universe, and writer/director Justin Zagri has stepped up to the plate to supply just that.

The short film deals with James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew right after they have graduated from Hogwarts. They enter into a local pub and encounter fellow Hogwarts graduate Severus Snape, and that’s when things take a turn for the worse.

This is what is exciting about independent filmmakers, and even fan films such as this one certainly qualifies. There is an abundance of talent out in the world when it comes to making a project such as this, ranging from the writing/directing, to the acting and even to scoring a film such as this. Great talent can be found anywhere, and just because they are not under contract by a major studio or music label or acting playhouse does not mean such talent should be ignored. They not only have the specific chops for what they are each called to do, but they all have passion for their craft. If you have any doubt of that then feel free to check out the Reaction Video below of the cast and crew as they watch the finished product for the very first time.

Please note that there will be some adult language coming from the cast, so watch this accordingly.

How did you like Severus Snape and the Marauders? Would you like to see more fan films of this like? Should they at least receive J.K. Rowling’s blessings before doing such fan films?
