More plans and development between Marvel and ABC

ghost-social-26-69921ABC recently cancelled Agent Carter and dropped Mockingbird’s spinoff series Marvel’s Most Wanted, but that doesn’t mean the network isn’t interested in working with Marvel some more. At TCA 2016, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey hinted at the network’s upcoming plans with Marvel Television (via Variety).

“We all came to an agreement that the next show that we want to do together is something that is as creatively strong as it can be,” Dungey said, though she didn’t dig into any specifics. However, her statement confirms that there is more Marvel TV series in the works at ABC.

The Netflix family of Marvel shows — Daredevil, Jessica Jones and the upcoming Luke Cage — were mentioned, and Dungey weighed in on whether or not ABC will explore a similarly connected series of shows. “That’s an interesting question, and we have talked a little bit about that, yes,” she said.

According to TVLine, Dungey also addressed whether or not Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse and Lance Hunter will return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., saying, “The characters were disavowed, but I never underestimate Marvel’s ability to bring people back.”

Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb also refused to deny the return of Morse and Hunter at Comic-Con International in San Diego, telling a young fan, “That’s classified.”

“It’s definitely classified, but keep watching,” executive producer Jed Whedon also teased at the time.

Starring Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet and Ming-Na Wen, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, September 20 at 10 pm EST on ABC.

Do you like the sound of Marvel’s and ABC’s plans together? Do you still think that Agent Carter and Marvel’s Most Wanted should be either given a chance or given another chance?

    1. Strictly speaking on a personal level, we are in complete agreement with you. Both of us enjoyed Agent Carter, and actually found the 2nd season to be even more fun than the first!

As for Marvel’s Most Wanted, after all the effort that was put forth to have Bobbi and Lance leave Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. it certainly feels like they were given the shaft. If the network does not want to do the show, then at least A) Release the pilot for viewing purposes anyway, and B) Bring Bobbi and Lance back to S.H.I.E.L.D. They were awesome on that show!

Thanks for visiting. Let us know what you think.
