Same-sex kiss featured in “Class”
The action-packed trailer comes ahead of the series’ debut on October 22, and gives us a better look at the premise of the show and the character’s that we’ll be getting to know.
Earlier this year, show creator Patrick Ness confirmed that there would be a gay protagonist who “kisses and sleeps” with his boyfriend on screen, and it looks like that character is Charlie, played by Greg Austin.
In the trailer, Charlie is seen asking “would you believe me if I said I was from another planet?” before things shift to another scene where he shares a kiss with another man.
Show creator Patrick said in June: “Kind of astounded that having a gay lead on Class has been such big news. One day, hopefully soon, it won’t be, because it’s not a big deal.
“Except of course it is a big deal, I know; 15-year-old me never got to see himself; that won’t happen again, not on my watch.”
The British show, which has drawn comparisons to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will star Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah as four students fighting an alien invasion.
There will also be cameo appearances from Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, which can be seen in the trailer below.
Class premieres in the UK on October 22, 2016 on BBC 3, and in 2017 on BBC America.
