We here at TG2 Studios are deeply saddened at the passing of a wonderful friend. Just this morning we learned that Anne Roberts of Cottonwood, AZ passed away.
For those of you who do not know her, she was the organizer behind the Verde Valley Comicbook Expo (you can hear our somewhat garbled interview with her in TG Geeks Episode 68) that we had the pleasure of attending up in Cottonwood last spring. Anne put that event together largely because she felt that there was a wealth of wonderful comicbook talent in Arizona (especially in the north country) that had not received the attention that it deserved.
She was married to Danny Roberts, who created Atomic Cattledrive, and along with their son Daniel-Paul, had quite the awesome geek family you could ever hope to meet. Anne was also quite talented when it came to artwork. She knew that we were still grieving over the loss of one of our cats and she expressed her love and friendship with us by creating a love piece of art that had a cat in it.
Anne was a very rare person. To borrow a phrase, “God broke the mold after He created Anne.” She was as equally beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. You never saw her without a smile on her face. She was extremely witty and loved puns, good or bad, and she was a tireless supporter of the geek community. Her passion and dedication was more than inspiring, and her efforts alone in creating the Verde Valley Comicbook Expo would be a wonderful legacy, but I daresay she will be most remembered for being an incredibly warm person, a loving mother to her son Daniel-Paul, and beautiful wife to Danny Roberts.
