New ‘Pacific Rim Uprising’ Trailer Brings Pilots to the Forefront

The latest trailer for Pacific Rim, released January 24, again showcases what looks to be some faithfulness to the original look, feel and pacing. And like the original, Pacific Rim Uprising teases there’s more to the film than Monsters and Mechs.

Check it out here:

This trailer teases the storyline reeling us back into the action-packed land of “Kaiju” and Jaegers by focusing more on the pilots and who they are behind the Mechs.

Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), son of the legendary Stacker once up and coming Jaeger pilot has one last chance to return to training and away from the criminal underworld. His sister Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) leads a new generation of pilots in the face of a new threat to humanity in offers him the opportunity to step up and embrace his family legacy.

Jake along with rival pilot Lambert (Scott Eastwood) and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (Cailee Spaeny), have no choice but to rise up and become the most force standing between humanity and mass destruction.

The New Jaegers:

By now, you’ve had plenty of time to adjust to Pacific Rim: Uprising being in the hands of director Steven S. DeKnight instead of Guillermo del Toro.  You’ve hopefully also seen the project that dragged him away, The Shape of Water and forgiven del Toro for opting to put his energy elsewhere.

Based on the first two trailers, it looks like Pacific Rim Uprising is in good hands.

Besides, it’s almost impossible not to get hype watching Kaiju wreck havoc to “Get It On Till I Die” by Tupac…
