Social Saturday – Free Comic Book Day 2018

We want to feature Free Comic Book Day since it is a time to discover new things, whether that be SuperHero friends or IRL friends. The Two Gay Geeks are excited about this Free Comic Book Day as we know a number of individuals who have releases that will be available.
Let’s take a look at what Free Comic Book Day is:

Free Comic Book Day, takes place on the first Saturday of May, and is an annual promotional effort by the North American comic book industry to help bring new readers into independent comic book stores. Retailer Joe Field of Flying Colors Comics in Concord, California brainstormed the event in his “Big Picture” column in the August 2001 issue of Comics & Games Retailer magazine. Free Comic Book Day started in 2002.

Since that first Free Comic Book Day the event has grown tremendously with not only Free Comics available for readers to choose from but there are many tie-in items for sale. Some of the big Comic Book Super Hero movies have had tie-ins to Free Comic Book Day.
Free Comic Book Day has reached around the world and even to the internet where there are many digital copies of comics made available for free in conjunction with the in-store event.
