Despite swearing that she never leaves the Manse, Gini’s on the road a lot, and she’s sending us down and dirty restaurant reviews from her latest trip.

“Hipsters and Millennials are on to something here.”
Bliss/Re-Bar is definitely a hip place for the young folks to gather. The bar itself is very cool – dark without being dank or dreary, with a small but nice wine and beer list and some standard, well-made cocktails, along with a few definitely designed for Arizona State University college kids.
Being in Downtown Phoenix usually means crowded, but Bliss has a great location, easy to get to but not overly traveled, at least during the day. Street parking is available if you’re lucky (I was) but there’s other parking available nearby, too.
Much dining is done on an outside, shaded patio (dog-friendly), and it’s a lovely way to spend your lunchtime – the patio is raised and far enough away from the street that the few cars going by aren’t a distraction or an annoyance. Service is good and pleasant, the ambiance is relaxed and friendly, and the Shrimp BLT is amazing. There are far worse, and far more expensive, ways to lunch in Downtown, so Bliss lives up to its name.
Definitely Try: Shrimp BLT, Roosevelt Grilled Cheese
