Hamish Downie’s Five Questions With Clement Hil Goldberg
Editor Note: Hamish has another in his series of Five Questions With…
Hamish came up with this idea because he was accumulating too much material for his Famous News Sushi column and asked if he could do these mini-interviews. Why would we say no?
Thank you Hamish for being such a trooper for us. We really appreciate all for your hard work.
Let us know what you think of these interviews in the comments below.
TGG: Could you please introduce yourself?
CHG: Hi, I am Clement Hil Goldberg, a queer, non-binary trans, writer, director and artist!

TGG: Could you please introduce your project, “Let Me Let You Go”?
CHG: A Groundbreaking Sci-Fi Comedy Feature about artists that become cross-species with fungus in order to survive! A nefarious biotech
billionaire, invested in life-extension research, offers them a way to survive imminent societal and ecological collapse.
TGG: What’s your favourite medium to work in? Puppets, Animation or Live Action and why?
CHG: I started working with puppet stop motion animation when I directed a short for an omnibus queer feature film Valencia, and it also was half live action for a five minute short.
Watch the trailer for Valencia here:
I feel like that was the dream. I love collaborating with others to create something epic like a movie. It’s hard as though you are in a
constant battle to organize chaos on a clock. I am an introvert and also love to hermit away with stop motion where there is a slower solitary control. So they are all my favorite and in a way, I am attempting to scale up the five minute short into a feature film. I don’t think it will be 50/50 but one never knows what it will take to get something made.
TGG: What’s the biggest thing you learned from making your short films?
CHG: When you find great collaborators, keep working with them!!!
“In the Spotlight” Excerpt:
TGG: How can we best support you? (where can we follow you on social media, watch your films, and support your crowdfunding campaign)?
CHG: What would help me THE MOST right now is if you would donate and share my Kickstarter Campaign. Time is flying by and we have less than 30 days to raise 60k. The future is fungal! Please help!!! Here is the link:
